About CalHFA

The California Housing Finance Agency is a self-supporting state agency chartered in 1975 as California's affordable housing lender. CalHFA finances first mortgages and down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers and partners with developers on affordable rental housing, funding its operations through mortgage revenue rather than taxpayer dollars.

Because it regularly administers state and federal resources on the state's behalf, CalHFA also carries the compliance and audit obligations that come with public funds, on top of its own lending programs. Its financial systems team runs on Microsoft Dynamics GP, supported by Northbank (formerly QBIX) for well over a decade.
